Sophia Hanratty Obituary (1924 - 2017)

Sophia Hanratty passed away June 13, 2017 at Mountain View Health Services in Ogden, UT with family by her side. She was born August 1, 1924 in Crescent City, CA to John and Hereklia Seitanides Pappas. She married Carl Wood, Sr. and they later divorced. She later married James P. Hanratty and he preceded her in death.She grew up in Crescent City, CA where she received her elementary education and graduated from Del Norte High School. In High School, she was active in the Drill Team and was the Head Majorette and Baton Twirler. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.Sophia owned her own advertising business for many years and also worked as a Legal Secretary. She loved to debate politics and fashion and being well dressed was very important. She loved decorating and oil painting. She was a member of The Greek Orthodox Church.She is survived by her Children: Carl Wood, Jr. (Lynne), Gloria Alves (Ernie), Judy Arruda (Manuel), Renee Traylor (Mike) Charles Brunton (Lori); Grandchildren: John Peterson (Audrey), Valerie Rios (Paul), Carrie Ables (Cary), Carolyn Lenzie (Dave), Nicholas Wood (Brittany), Rachel Wood, Michael Traylor, Alexandria Traylor; Great Grandchildren: Rebekha, Jaqueline, Jon, Maxwell, Mitchell, Lilianne, Marcus and Julia; and a host of Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews.
