Terrance Leon Curtis Obituary (1934 - 2020)

Terrance Leon Curtis, age 85 of North Ogden, UT passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 while residing at the George E Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home. He was born on September 6, 1934, in Downey, Idaho to Verna (Curtis) Jensen and Sylvanus Sessions. Terry, as he was known, graduated from Anderson High School. He was a light weight Golden Glove boxer as a junior and senior in High School. He served in the military of the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers Unit from 1956-1962. He also served as a Chief of the North View Fire District, Tahoma County, CA. He served as a Bishop of the Morton Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Morton, WA and was a School District Board Member also during that time. Terry married Madeline (Jencks) in 1961 and later was sealed at the Oakland, CA Temple in 1970. This year marked their 59th anniversary. They had four daughters; Amanda, Molly, Melody, and Misty. He was a man of many trades who worked hard to support his family from California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and ending in Ogden, Utah working at Fresenius.He loved fishing, crabbing, beach combing, and jewelry making. He played a mean game of cards and monopoly and loved playing games with the grandkids and great grandkids. He was very proud of all the missionary and military descendants in the family. One of his wife’s fondest memories is of him dressing up as a clown to entertain children at different Primary events or parties. . He found great joy in his later years meeting new people while volunteering at the Ogden Union Station Museum, growing giant pumpkins and collecting many things that he found interesting. Terry is survived by his wife, Madeline, daughters, grandchildren (16) and great grandchildren (17 with one on the way), along with his faithful dog, Licky. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Monty from Primrose, Mark from Right at Home, the Staff of the Marion Center in Salt Lake, and all the nurses and staff at the VA home for making his final year as comfortable and pain free as possible.
